Course Contents: This course focuses on the refreshment of ultrasound basic principles – – Ultrasonic Equipments – Probes – Components of ultrasonic flaw detector (UFD) – Calibration Block, Reference block – Transfer Correction – Calibration of Equipment – Beam spread, Attenuation – Sensitivity setting – Ultrasonic Equipment Checks – Flaw Sizing Methods – San Representations – Scanning Pattern, Interpretation & Evaluation – Acceptance Criteria – Echo Dynamic Pattern & Reporting – Welding Processes and Weld defects – Number of practical exercises on test specimens containing simulated flaws

This 20-hour course exceeds the instruction outline and criteria specified in the ASNT Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A, ANSI/ASNT CP-189, and ASNT Standard Topical Outlines for Qualification of Nondestructive Testing Personnel (ANSI/ASNT CP-105).

Ultrasonic Testing TKY theory classes will be organized through online and/or offline and hand-on practical sections will be arranged nearest feasible NDT test center.

 Course Objectives: The course objectives are as below:

• To calibrate ultrasonic equipment and probes
• To identify the suitability of UT for the material and inspection techniques
• To report on the location and size of defects in typically welded butt joints
• To interpret and evaluate the test result as per international applicable codes & standards
• Selection of probes, Construction of DAC, Evaluation of defects and Acceptance criteria based on API-RP 2X (Tubular Connections) and AWS D 1.1 (Non-tubular connection Steel Structures)
• Construction of weld cross section involving curvature using profile-gauge and other methods
• Estimating change of angle, beam-path, the surface distance for curved surfaces
• Construction of a flaw locating rule for T K Y Weld Inspection
• Sample Test Specimens containing T, K, Y welded joints on plates and pipes
